Online Public Speaking Course for Kids

Sophie Zadeh, Public Speaking Course Tutor

In my online Public Speaking Course for Kids, I guide children through the course via pre-recorded short video lessons and instruction. The course is self-paced and covers public speaking theory.

Online group classes are also available to help students build confidence, practise, and develop their skills.

Combine the online course with the group classes for comprehensive learning and development.

It’s most effective to start (or complete) the online course first, starting classes during course completion. The course and classes are available to purchase as separate components.

  • Simply.. thankyou Sophie ! My daughter did the children's confidence course followed by the public speaking course. Both worked on building her confidence which shows in my daughter's life now. She became more confident in going to Tafe and is now working and is contributing to her work place with confidence. Thanks a million Sophie. I have recommended you to others :)

  • You will need Sophie on your side if you are making a presentation or doing a talk or a speech. I did my first ever BIG talk on a TedXPerth platform and it was possible primarily due to Sophie. She was very calm, patient, thoughtful, insightful, forgiving and motivating. Super professional and a super human to connect with.

  • I'm very grateful to have found Sophie. She is truly wonderful at building self confidence with kids who are struggling at doing presentations. Both my children have attended her holiday workshops before and have had a really good experience. And now when my daughter needed help to do her presentation at Uni, she has very kindly jumped in to support her, She is very warm hearted and is very creative in her approach. I would strongly recommend her programs. Thank-you so much Sophie.

  • I cannot say enough about Sophie! This multitalented person made such a huge difference in the children’s lives. They look forward to every single class with her.

Sophie is eclectic, passionate, fun, warm, caring and most important she makes you feel comfortable from the minute you meet her! No one in class felt left out; we had a great time communicating during the classes. I definitely, highly recommend Sophie as the first resource to people who struggle with public speaking anxiety or to people who need to improve!

Actually, I highly recommend, any, if not all the workshops with Sophie…It will be money well spent.

    MARGIE JOHNSON, GRANDPARENT

  • My four home-schooled children attended Sophie's public speaking course last term and they loved it! Sophie is a wonderful teacher and her lovely, gentle approach was perfect or my ASD and dyslexic kids. They were always keen to go to class and happy to do the homework.

The whole course is presented in such a comfortable and flowing way that even my most reluctant writer was excited to sit down and do his homework. Having children of different ages, I was beyond happy with the skilful way Sophie was able to meet the children where they were at and tailor the coursework to their ability.

Along with speech writing, they learned how to calm their nerves, hold their bodies and how to use their hands. The confidence to speak in any setting is so important and this course has absolutely given them the confidence and also some very useful skills. So grateful to have found a wonderful teacher.

Online group classes are available separately to help students build confidence, practise, and develop their skills.

The course material is not taught in the classes, and it’s assumed that students are completing or have completed the course already. The classes are a place to develop and practise skills.

An ideal time to start the classes is mid-way through the course when students have a script and are beginning to practise delivery.

Some lessons include breathing activities. Please ensure that a parent or guardian is present during these lessons to ensure that they are not too challenging for the student and are performed safely.

The nonverbal component focuses on effective delivery, including delivery style, vocal power, body language, showing confidence and emotion.

The course provides practical solutions to prevent and manage nervousness and the oh-so-common fear of public speaking. Slide presentations aren't encouraged; however, tips are included for students who want to use them. We also discuss using props and demonstrating during a talk.

  • The online course and classes are designed for children aged 8 - 15. Children below this age may be able to complete the course with help from a sibling or adult or alone if they are academically advanced. For students above 15, see the question below.

  • Of course! The course covers the same content I teach adults during coaching and organisational training. However, I recorded the videos with young students in mind; therefore, I used simplified language, more repetition, and more/less explanation as appropriate. Don't worry—I'm not prancing around like one of the Wiggles!

While adults can purchase and complete the online course, they can’t attend online classes for children (sold as a separate product). Adults can book a private coaching/training session/s for one-to-one feedback and advice.

  • The family access Platinum package differs from the other packages because it isn't an annual subscription. A one-time purchase provides long-term access to the course, allowing students to revisit content over the years. Siblings can also access the course, and each student can have their own feedback session. Adults in the family are also welcome to take the course, submit a video and gain feedback. The package provides four feedback/coaching sessions with Sophie. Separate individuals or the same student/s can use the sessions; you can choose how and when to use them in a way that suits you. If needed, you can purchase additional feedback/coaching sessions; contact me to book them.

As you enrol, list the names of the family members who plan to take the course. When submitting videos, please label each with the student's name to correspond with the enrolment name.

  • The feedback/coaching sessions are 30-minute, online, face-to-face meetings between Sophie and the student. Parents/guardians are welcome to attend.

Students can use the sessions to gain feedback about presentation delivery, such as their video submission. Alternatively, the sessions can be used for public speaking coaching and to tackle specific communication issues.

It's your choice when to use these sessions, depending on the student's level and when they need additional help or are seeking feedback. When you're ready, let me know, and we can set up a meeting.

  • You can cancel and reinstate your annual subscription in your customer account anytime. If you only need the course for one year, cancel your subscription before the year is out. If you envisage requiring the course for several years, consider our Platinum package instead, which gives you lifetime and family access and more feedback/coaching sessions.

  • Once you purchase the course, you receive access to it. Students work through the modules and video lessons in the order they are presented, with a progress bar showing progression. Students can dip into previously watched modules and lessons at any time. Video lessons have a written summary for quick revision. After completing the course content, practise and rehearsal, students submit a video of them delivering their talk. They will then receive their Certificate of Completion via email.

  • When you purchase a course package, you set a password, and your account is formed. After payment, check your email and make any requested verifications or authorisations. When you log in to your account, the course should be available as a digital product.

  • I recommend taking the online course, as it covers public speaking theory and provides essential knowledge about delivery. The theory is drawn upon in classes, and students are expected to deliver their talks using the positive behaviours learned in the course.

Students who have previously completed the online course without the classes or attended an in-person beginner course with me can buy the online classes as they have already learned the course content. Some circumstances may lead you to consider classes alone; in this case, please get in touch with me first to discuss options.

  • The course mirrors my in-person public speaking course*, which consists of weekly classes (1 hr, 15 mins) over a school term (8/9 weeks). However, it is designed for students to complete at their own pace.

    *Australian-based course, no longer available

I recommend spreading learning over time, completing two to four modules weekly for effective learning. Some students may have an upcoming talk and need to complete the course faster. This is achievable; however, I recommend completing up to two modules in one sitting to allow time to absorb and process information and complete all the activities.

After completing the course, students are expected to practice and rehearse their talk before delivering and recording their video presentation for submission. This practise can take place in the online group classes.

  • No. The course is suitable for children within the age range, including those who are introverted, shy, or have anxiety, issues with confidence, etc. Children who have learning difficulties or are younger may need additional support.

I provide an environment where students feel safe to learn and develop. The knowledge and skills learned will be valuable in other areas of their lives, helping them to become better and more confident communicators.

  • After completing the online course, students must submit a video of themselves delivering their talk via email to gain their certificate. I will then review the video and reply with a Certificate of Completion.

  • Not in Australia. However, I may occasionally run classes in the UK. When available, they will listed on my website.

  • For as long as the course exists, students can log in and learn, returning as much or as little as they want. 'Lifetime' refers to the lifetime of the course, not the student. I have no plans to withdraw the course, and if/when improvements are made, students can still access the course with the upgrades. Sadly, I'm not invincible and won't be around for eternity; however, I will do my best to keep the course running for as long as possible, knowing its benefits. In the event of course withdrawal, I shall provide access to download the content.

  • Check your inbox and junk mail, and if you still haven't received your purchase confirmation, let me know.

De-stress before a talk. When tension disappears, delivery excels because emotion (fear) can overwhelm the brain, taking up valuable cognitive capacity.

This eight-year-old shows that the simplest talk topic can be delivered with passion and emotion!

This talk from a fifteen-year-old was delivered beautifully; however, my camera failed during the performance, cutting the recording.

I expect participants to deliver from memory, without notes, because that’s when connection and engagement with the audience flourish–we talk to them instead of reading to them. Occasionally, commitments get in the way, and participants aren't ready to deliver without notes. This talk by a fourteen-year-old is delivered very well, despite still relying on notes.
